November’s general election features 172 judicial seats on the ballot

Ohio voters will elect 172 judges to courts at every level across the state in the November 6 general election. Twice as many candidates (115) are unopposed on the ballot compared to those (57) that have an opponent.
Court News Ohio will post results from all judicial races as soon as they become available.
All judges in Ohio are elected to six-year terms. Elections for the Ohio Supreme Court, appeals courts, common pleas courts, and county courts occur in even-numbered years, while elections for municipal courts occur in odd-numbered years.
Voters will elect the following number of judges to each level of the judiciary in less than five weeks:
3 Supreme Court Justices
24 appeals court judges
119 common pleas court judges
26 county court judges
Supreme Court staff members assemble the election results from the local county boards of elections for administrative purposes, to communicate with new judges about payroll, benefits and other information.

A legal challenge to recent legislation affecting the Sandusky County Court is currently pending before the Supreme Court. The races for this court are not included in the total.
