Longtime HHM attorney moves to the Youngstown office of Roetzel & Andress

Mahoning Valley business attorney Kevin P. Murphy has joined the Youngstown office of Roetzel & Andress as a shareholder in the firm’s corporate, tax and transactional group.
Murphy, who previously served as the managing member of Harrington, Hoppe & Mitchell, started at Roetzel & Andress on July 1.
“I am very excited to be a part of Roetzel & Andress,” Murphy said. “Roetzel is a mid-sized law firm with offices throughout Ohio, as well as in Illinois, Florida, Michigan, Kentucky and Washington, D.C., which will enhance my ability to serve my clients.”
“I have known Kevin for many years,” said Tim Reardon, shareholder-in-charge of Roetzel’s Youngstown office.
“He has deep roots in the Mahoning Valley and has earned the trust of business owners and community leaders throughout the region,” said Reardon. “His experience will further strengthen the services we provide to businesses and entrepreneurs across northeast Ohio.
“Kevin is a tremendous addition to our office, and since many of his clients have operations outside the Mahoning Valley area, they will benefit from the specialized services we provide across a much larger geographic area.”
Born in Youngstown and raised in Boardman Township, Murphy received his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Dayton and earned his Juris Doctor from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.
He began his career in the Warren office of Hoppe, Frey, Hewitt & Milligan, which merged with Harrington & Mitchell in 1998 to form Harrington, Hoppe & Mitchell.
“I was primarily involved in corporate and business matters, as well as real estate transactions,” said Murphy, who became a partner of the firm in 1990.
“I really enjoy business and transactional work because it presents new challenges and allows me to represent many different types of organizations,” Murphy said. “The issues are challenging, and it’s often like putting a puzzle together.”
A longtime member of the Trumbull County Bar Association, he previously served on the organization’s executive committee and as chair of its grievance committee.
Murphy is also a member of the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA) and was the District 18 representative on the Council of Delegates and later the OSBA Board of Governors.
In addition, he is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and expects to join the Mahoning County Bar Association in the near future.
Murphy continues to be active in the Mahoning Valley community.
He is currently on the boards of Packard Park and the Trumbull Country Club, where he is also the president.
He also serves on the Huntington National Bank Mahoning Valley Advisory Board, and on the board of the Community Improvement Corporation of Warren and Trumbull County.
In addition, Murphy is a former member of the Ohio State Bar Association Commission on Judicial Candidates.
“I am looking forward to integrating my existing clients into Roetzel’s platform and getting to know my new colleagues,” Murphy said.
“I think Kevin will find Roetzel to be a welcoming firm to transition his busy law practice,” Reardon said. “It certainly was for me when I joined the firm two years ago.
“Roetzel is very supportive of the Youngstown office, and we continue to have a high demand for corporate legal services locally, which will enable Kevin to expand his client base.
“His expertise in mergers and acquisitions and his national real estate practice are very beneficial to our Youngstown office as well as our other 12 locations,” Reardon said.
